Latest Updates from Our Project:

Update #3. Some pictures from the manufacturer have arrived
about 2 years ago – Mon, Mar 11, 2024 at 07:22:41 AM

Hello Everyone!

I have been meaning to post some updates regarding the factory sample for the game. At the time of posting this, I still do not have it in my possession. However, I do have some awesome pictures that were provided to me from Judy, the person I have been speaking with from our manufacturer, Nice Funny games.

The Box

Inside the Box

All of the Components

It has been a dream come true to see this project come to life. I think it was sometime in July of 2021 that I was taping pieces of paper together to create the very first version of the board. The physical prototype has to start somewhere. 3 years later and we have over 78 illustrations commissioned for this deck building game where no two cards is the same (except the starting cards) . You buy a card, that's your card!

I have high hopes that this first game will spark interest in further expansions. With the amount of keywords we have, there is a pretty large pool of potential future card designs we can create. I hope I am able to take this further. Thank you for everyone who had put their interest in this little project of mine. By the next update, I should have the first sample in my hands and I will share that when able.

Update #2 : The last of the Promo Cards
about 2 years ago – Wed, Feb 07, 2024 at 06:44:46 AM

Hello Everyone!

We are still moving along behind the scenes. I want to announce that we officially have all of the card illustrations finalized! This is includes the remainder of the Promo cards as well as the Wound cards. Lets continue the spoilers that we started in our last update.

Apothecary Ace

This backer was pretty flexible with their prompt. They chose the Merchant's Row as their desired district. I decided that making them an apothecary store owner would be a good fit, since we have a series of potion making witch characters already. This card allows the player to swap the inner and outer city cards of the district they are in at the cost of taking a bleeding wound into their discard pile. I hope that in future card designs, I can explore this mechanic more.

Convivial Siren

As much as I wanted to capture the backer's likeness in this card, I unfortunately wasn't able to get in contact with them. That being said, I decided to let the artist have creative liberties regarding this illustration. Aile chose to making a young merman that is plucking a fruit from a river adjacent tree. The mechanical design of this card mirrors the previous card, but gains you power instead of coin.

Dastardly Colossus

This backer wanted to their likeness to be a villainous steampunk automaton. Someone that has their own scheming agenda and has the means to execute them. If your goals align with his and you don't get in his way, maybe a deal can be struck. The colossus draws a card and allows a modal choice, depending on what the player needs at the time.

Wounds

I wanted to use these cards to illustrate a story, showing the journey of soldiers would become wounded from the assault on the city. Wounds are cards that are from attacking the monster. Wounds have an icon that prevents them from being played horizontally to gain speed. Let me attach the monster reaction board as reference.

If a player attacks the Infernal Maw, the game will check how much damage they are dealing and will trigger certain effects. If the Player deals 3 Damage, they will:

  • Gain 3 Prestige from the Monster's Health Pool
  • Place a Bleeding and Light Wound in their discard pile
  • Place the top card of their deck into their discard pile
  • Create Rubble
  • Crowd Retreat
  • Provoke

Lastly, I am hoping to have a factory sample of City of Myrkesh towards late February / early March. When I receive that, I will be sure to post it in the next update.

First Update of the New Year.
about 2 years ago – Tue, Jan 09, 2024 at 07:45:35 AM

We're back!

Happy new year! We hope everyone got the chance to spend the holiday with family and friends.

I want to get right in in to what we have been working on behind the scenes. This includes:

  • Getting the likeness illustrations made for the backers who chose to back the promo card tier. We currently have 4/7 illustrations so far
  • Speaking with the manufacturer to make sure they have all the files they need to create the first prototype.
  • Speaking with the distributor to be able to get these games out to you at a reasonable time.

Let's share the promo cards we have so far! These can be swapped into any game by removing a card of the same district and cost.

Ursa Solari

Out of all the likeness backers, this backer chose to not use his likeness. Instead, they proposed the Idea of a Sun Bear Paladin. Ena did a fantastic job capturing the angelic and holy glory of this character.

Scrupulous Inspector

This backer wanted to use an outfit of themselves in some steampunk attire as reference. After tossing some ideas back and forth with him, we came up with a design that captures the look of an extremely attentive inspector and his eyeball appendage assistants. Ena really made sure that this character was the focus inside a foggy workshop. Super happy with it.

Back Alley Broker

This backer requested to be a part of the cast of flesh cult characters, but with a little more free will. This shady individual is someone who uses their connections and influence in the undercity to secure deals. He preys on desperate and weak clients by giving them an offer they can't possibly refuse. Giovanni illustrated all of the flesh cult members and he knocked this illustration out of the park.

Blood Flow Celebrant

This backer was very basic with their likeness description. A vampire, but with a sense of humor. The celebrant of the vampires revels in the blood of his victims, and in style. Giovanni has a skill of creating very spooky characters that I cannot turn down.

We still have 3 more promo cards to spoil and I cannot wait to be able to share them with you all. I am still ironing out all the details with the manufacturer, but print files are on track and should be submitted sometime this month. Once we have our first production prototype, I will make an update for it here.

A week after the Kickstarter ended
over 2 years ago – Thu, Nov 30, 2023 at 10:20:47 AM

Hey everyone!

It's been officially One Week since we met our funding goal. My co-publisher and I have been taking the next steps in this process to make City of Myrkesh a reality.

Promo card illustrations are being discussed with each backer that chose the likeness tier. I want to make sure that everyone is satisfied with how their assigned illustrator is creating their in universe self. Really excited to see how these come out! I hope these promo cards will bring in fresh ideas to a potential expansion down the line.

New Card, old templating

Here is 1 of the 7 promo cards that will come with every copy of City of Myrkesh. Artwork is being worked on as I type this. I still need to have our graphic designer update these with the new card layout, but I wanted to share the mechanics.

Backerkit emails should be going out sometime in mid-december. These will include all the needed steps required to ensure we can deliver your copy/copies of your order.
